1. Disconnect USB cable from phone.
2. Go to Menu->Settings->Applications->Development.
3. Turn on "USB Debugging" option.
4. When message is appear press "Yes".
5. Connect usb cable to phone.
6. Press "Read Info" in Octopus Samsung software.

To connect GT-S8500 phone you have to perform the following steps:
1. Go to dial window.
2. Enter "*#197328640#" number.
3. Make next steps: select Common->Service configuration->Data
service confing->USB ACM AP.
4. Restart phone.
5. Press "Read Info" in Octopus Samsung software.
Selected firmware file: S8500DXKE1_OLBKD1.oct
Please put your phone in download mode and connect to PC.
To put GT-S8500 phone into download mode you have to perform the
following steps:
1. Reconnect phone battery.
2. Press and hold "Volume +" + "Camera" + "Power" buttons.
